Say hey to Tinea Taylor, DJ, radio and TV presenter and member of the GRL PWR Gang, as she chats female empowerment and what being part of an all-girl collective is really like.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Check my phone for messages and scroll through social media.
Who’s your girl crush?
Zendaya – she’s killing it at the moment!
Tell us out about the tote bag you designed…
We all got to create our own bags using a slogan of our own choice and mine says ‘Babe You’re Funky Fabulous‘ because I think women need to be reminded of how great, amazing and queen-like they are. That is what this bag represents and I hope it inspires someone and makes them feel great.
What does girl power mean to you?
Girl power is all about unity. That’s why I drew a picture of a love heart with five girls standing in a line holding hands. I love the fact that the GRL PWR Gang has even been formed, and I love the fact that it’s about women working with other women. It’s about helping and encouraging other women, not tearing them down. To me, girl power means strength.
What do you love about working in a collective?
Being in a creative collective is perfect; we’ve got models, we’ve got designers, we’ve got art directors, we’ve got stylists and presenters. We’ve all become really good friends and we all help each other in our craft… and steal each other’s clothes!
