5 Berets & Baker Boy Hats to Wear All Season

One of the many things that excites us most about cold-wear dressing is the accessories: scarves, gloves and, of course, hats. And while there’s still space in our style line-up for beanies (the bigger the pom-pom, the better), the recent resurgence of berets and baker boy caps means we have more choice than ever before. Need some inspiration? From the statement to the subdued, here are five hats you’ll be wearing all season…

1. Wild Thoughts

Berets = the newest way to wear animal print. Referencing rock ‘n’ roll glamour and making it feel modern, this luxe leopard design is the one to wear from day to dark. Nod to its roots with faux fur jackets and band tees, or rewrite the style rules with Breton stripes and oversized knits.

2. All Yellow

The street style set’s accessory of choice? The baker boy hat. One favoured by sixties’ icons, this closest classic has since regained its fashion momentum, and is now emerging in stand-out shades, from mustard to scarlet. Surprisingly easy to wear, this statement-maker can dress up off-duty looks in instant – we’ll be wearing ours with everything from knitwear to blouses and denim.

3. Classic Moves

For something a little more muted but no less stylish, an all-black baker boy cap is the outfit add-on that’s certainly worth investing in. Seen on the runways and on our Instagram feeds, the ever-present accessory is here to stay, thanks to its versatility and effortlessly cool aesthetic. Team with an aviator jacket for perennial chic, or wear with blazers, slogan knits and stripes – anything goes.

4. Back to Paris

If you want to keep things classically cool, et voilà – the black wool beret is the ‘it’ accessory that your wardrobe is calling out for.  Perfect for elevating your winter coat or styling with suits, slip dresses or denim, this French-girl favourite is infinitely versatile, and offers an easy route for those making their first foray into the trend.

5. Go Boldly

This season, the beret has infiltrated the fashion scene in several guises and, in turn, has brought bold colour palettes back into focus. Available in both mustard yellow and statement red, this pure wool wonder promises not to blend into the background, whether worn with clashing colours or adding stand-out status to pared-back looks.

3 Halloween Make-Up Looks Created by Beauty Bloggers

All Hallow’s Eve is almost here – and it’s time to make some hocus pocus. To get you inspired for the witching hour, we asked three beauty bloggers – Nadia, Louise and Kate – to recreate three of our favourite Halloween make-up looks and show us that there’s endless ways to interpret every spine-tingling tutorial…

1. Fortune Teller

Smoky orange eyes, celestial stars and fiery sparkle: we love how make-up artist Nadia (@withlove.nadia) has put a darkly glamorous spin on the fortune teller make-up look. Layers of gold heirloom jewels with muted green stones add to the eerily ethereal aesthetic, and are complemented to perfection by the decadent velvet of both the headband and the dress.

2. Galactic

Proving that silvery metallics aren’t the only way to go intergalactic, make-up artist Louise (@louise.keane) has experimented with a deep, shimmery pink shadow instead, elevating its other-worldly effect with a high-shine highlighter on the brow line, cheekbones and the inner corner of the eyes. Stick-on starry sparkles, a crescent moon hair clip and constellation necklaces add the finishing touches.

3. Flapper Girl

Taking Halloween fancy dress to new levels of decadence, beauty blogger Kate (@katesbeautystation) has made the flapper girl look feel infinitely more of the moment with a glittery gold shadow, clashed with a deep purple lip. A sequin headband and a feather fan nod to the roaring twenties, while fringed disc earrings add a dose of modern glamour.

Style Series: Uzy Nwachukwu Curates AW18

From animal prints and sequins to cold-weather essential: fashion blogger Uzy Nwachukwu reveals her favourite pieces from the AW18 collection at Accessorize, and tells us more about why she loves them in the latest instalment of our Style Series…

Oversized Scarves

“Oversized bright chunky scarves are the perfect accessory to help transition into the colder season whilst holding on to the colours from summer. The oversized design leaves you feeling snug and the pop of colour can instantly transform the simplest outfit into a more interesting one.”

“Not only does this super-fluffy purple scarf add character to my look, it is super comfortable and cosy! It is also guaranteed to serve its purpose of shielding you from the harsh British weather.”

Sequin Earrings

“Oh, and can we talk about these earrings?! Don’t they add instant chic to this casual look? I think they do! If there is anything that your wardrobe needs right now, it’s definitely a pair of these.”

Animal Print

“Another trend I am very fond of this season is animal print. I opted for the zebra print clutch as its monochrome colour makes it very easy to pair with most items. I love the versatility of this bag as it can also be turned into a cross body bag, making it suitable for both a super casual or slightly dressier look. It’s also got some handy slots to put your cards, which saves me from having to rummage through my bag.”

5 Birthday Gifts for Scorpio

Hold tight – Scorpio season has arrived. As of Tuesday 23rd October 2018, the Sun has moved into Scorpio, joining Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, ready to ignite our passions and infuse courage until 21st November. Join us as we explore the mysterious depths of the one of the most misunderstood signs in the zodiac, and discover our hand-picked gift edit for the Scorpios in your life…

About the Scorpio Sign

Secretive and enigmatic by nature, Scorpio brings us into the hidden, shadowy places of what makes us who we are.  Digging deep comes naturally to Scorpios, who love to reinvent themselves over and over again, allowing them to become the most self-aware and insightful soul that they possibly can be. Powerful, passionate and intense, they also come with seductive, magnetic personalities that are hard to ignore, and are known for being strong-willed, ambitious and brave in everything they set out to do.  As a water sign, Scorpios tend to be motivated by their emotions rather than logic or rationale, making them naturally intuitive, and in tune with the feelings and mood of others.

1. The Constellation Necklace

Available in premium gold- and platinum-plated metal, these necklaces from Z for Accessorize come with circular pendants that showcase Scorpius the Scorpion – the southernmost constellation of the zodiac, located near the centre of the Milky Way. Tiny, twinkling cubic zirconia embellishments add a sense of the ethereal to these keepsake jewels, making them a gorgeous gift idea for Scorpions.

2. The Scorpio Rings

Want more jewellery to match? Made from gold-tone metal, this stacking set comes with two rings: one with a sparkling constellation design, and the other with an orange stone embellishment, similar to that of a yellow topaz – the birthstone of November. The latter is said to its conduct its energy from Scorpio’s ruling planet, Pluto, and inspires clarity, concentration and clarity in the wearer.

3. The Scorpio Bracelet

Set on coloured cord, this star sign bracelet features a sterling silver disc with the Scorpio ‘M’ symbol, or glyph, depicting scorpion and its tail stinger. Deep, dark and mysterious, the Scorpion glyph expresses the intensity, depth and passion of those born under the eight sign of the zodiac wheel, while also alluding to their elusive nature.

4. The Birthstone Necklace

Looking for something a little more subtle? Crafted from gold-tone metal, this delicately-designed necklace comes with a simple disc pendant, embellished with a Swarovski crystal in the same golden glow of a yellow topaz – perfect for those celebrating November birthdays (the October birthstone necklace can be found here).

5. The Scorpio Keyring

For another gift inspired by the night skies, look to our star sign keyring. Designed in glossy gold-tone metal, this treasured find is engraved with the Scorpius constellation, representing the scorpion and its tail, and set with sparkling stones that lend a little luxe to the every day.

4 Hair Accessories to Try This Season

Hair accessories: the niche runway trend that’s made its way onto everyone’s Instagram feeds. Having rid themselves of their playground personas, clips, slides and sticks have got all grown-up – and the good news is, you don’t have to be Margot Tenenbaum to pull them off.   Here, we explore the trend’s origins on the runways, before getting to grips with the four hair accessory trends to try for AW18…

On the Runway

How did hair clips get high-fashion? It all started on the catwalks, with Zadig & Voltaire’s (left) diamanté designs worn with middle parts and black eyeliner, and Ashley Williams’ (right) slogan styles, encrusted with rhinestones for the full nineties effect.

1. The Pearl Barrette

If pearl hair clips make you think of your flower girl days then prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Decorated with opalescent beads in varying sizes, the classically cool barrette has been updated for the modern age – and just the one will no longer do. Stock up on three, four, five and wear them with a deep side part.

2. The Tortoiseshell Slides

Tortoiseshell textures aren’t only for earrings. Marbled neutrals, animal-inspired acrylics and classic colours come together in this series of sleek slides, perfect for wearing separately or wearing all at once – experiment with uniform lines and seemingly random scatterings.

3. The Celestial Slides

Celestial styles are still shining bright for AW18 and, thanks to the recent resurgence of hair clips, there’s now a whole new way to wear the trend. Featuring a crescent moon and star, this cosmic duo is crafted from textured gold-tone metal and adorned with tiny, twinkling crystal gems for an ethereal effect that works from day to night.

4. The Pearl Hair Stick

Straight out of the nineties, hair sticks are back on the agenda for this season, lending something a little unexpected to messy half up-dos. Whether heading out into the night or elevating the every day, pick a pearl-embellished design that feels classic and contemporary all at the same time – we like how this piece is made from gold-tone metal for that extra hit of glamour.

5 Embellished Bags to Light Up the Night

Illuminating crystals, glistening beads and full-sparkle sequins: this season’s nights out and parties present the perfect excuse to go all-out with our accessories. Showcasing limited edition and hand-embellished designs, here are our favourite five evening bags to light up the night…

1. Great Gatsby

Flapper-girl fashion is back – and this time, it’s had a modern-day makeover. Rows of hand-embellished crystals and beads on this limited edition evening bag give a nod to the roaring twenties, while the unique teardrop shape speaks of the new season. Carry it in hand and wear with everything from androgynous suits to your favourite party dress.

2. Round, Round

Circle bags are making its grand entrance in time for your next night out, having had a resurgence on last season’s runways. While pared-back palettes and leather-look textures are the daytime designs of choice, evening invites require something a little more on the sparklier side – think lavish beaded florals on twilight-toned backdrops.

3. Bloom Away

Dark, moody florals are a signature trend of the colder months, adding a sense of the ethereal to every outfit – particularly those reserved for this season’s parties. Designed exclusively for Accessorize at our in-house London studio, this clutch bag is hand-embellished with 3D sequins in sultry shades of silver, midnight blue and soft pink for a deeply decadent finish. We love how it comes with an internal zip compartment to keep party essentials safe.

4. Glam Rock

Not here to be subtle? Dripping in jewels, beads and sequins, evening bags with all-out embellishments are taking centre stage for the season ahead, bringing instant glamour to effortless looks. For a little extra opulence, combine them with rich velvet textures and fringing for an ‘it’ accessory that was made to be noticed.

5. Sparkles Fly

Innately glamorous, sequins are the eternal favourite of after-dark invites.  Whether playing it quietly cool in head-to-toe black, or making a statement in powerful prints, put your trust in slouchy, cross-body designs embellished with metallic silver and gold to liven up your look with little effort.

Fashion Month: 5 Accessory Trends to Watch in SS19

Fashion month: it came, it saw, and it left us anticipating the return of those hazy summer days. Need a quick run-down of the key catwalk highlights? From statement hats to the new wave of structured bags, here are the five accessory trends to watch in SS19…

1. Hair Scarves

Hair scarves had a strong presence on the New York runways, borrowing their prints from retro designs and reimagining them in modern ways. Kate Spade (left) added pops of fuschia pink and black to classic scarves and knotted neckerchiefs, while Anna Sui turned turbans on their head with luxe jacquard textures in spring-ready shades of coral and gold.

2. Flip-Flops

Forget everything you knew about flip-flops. An emerging trend from the SS19 shows, the simple summer classic is making its move from the poolside to the city streets, and offsetting its inherently casual feel with dressed-up outfits. Take note of how Tibi’s (left) teamed an androgynous checked suit with a flat black pair, and the chunkier styles seen at Jil Sander (right), styled with crocheted maxis.

3. Box Bags

All hail the ‘it’ bag of SS19. Drawing their inspiration from doctor-like designs, this season’s iterations took structure to the extreme with cuboid shapes and sharp, angular lines – and here lies the proof. Flat, boxy bags in mock-croc textures were spotted at Rejina Pyo in London (left), worn with leopard print for a statement clash, while Milan saw the revival of monochrome with two-tone styles at Jil Sander (right).

4. Statement Hats

Tying in with the travel theme of the new-season collection, statement hats were one of the most prominent accessory trends on the catwalks. Bright beanies at Calvin Klein (left) were on-hand to bridge the gap between winter and the first days of spring, while the floppy hats at Rejina Pyo (right) refreshed resort dressing with polka dot-prints and oversized shapes.

5. Western Fringing

The wild, wild west made its triumphant return to the runways but this time, the focus fell on softer, more feminine shapes instead of the practical outerwear pieces and denim designs usually associated with the classic trend.  From Coach (left) to Longchamp (right), the all-American aesthetic manifested itself through fringed leather jackets worn over prairie-style dresses, and tasselled gladiator sandals that were made with spring in mind.
