3 New Work Bags for AW18

Whether you’re heading to the city’s glass-walled skyscrapers or creative studio spaces, our three new work bags for AW18 will get you – and those work-day essentials – to the office and beyond in style. Not just easy on the eye, these sidekicks have sussed all your daily-grind needs before you have. Now that’s the kind of help we need at 8am on a dark, autumn morning.

1. The Colour-Pop Tote

Never has your commuting companion looked so good. Embrace the pumpkin-spice palette of AW18 with this carryall and you’ll find your go-to work clothes feel instantly this-season. No matter how much you throw in this spacious work bag, its quality zip fastenings will hide a multitude of sins from the rest of the tube riders. We’re putting it top of the style agenda.

2. The Luxe Backpack

The backpack is cooler than ever and the comfiest choice for a standing train journey – so we’ve luxed it up in leather and suede for a look that is totally work appropriate. Reach for your travelcard in its front pockets and keep your treasured tablet in the safety of its two secure compartments. Wear it high and preppy or hanging off one shoulder – these hard-wearing straps are fully adjustable.

3. The Ultimate Leather Bag

For those with laptops, notepads, the results of Sunday’s meal prep and a top-up of makeup, behold the hero of leather work bags. The classic shape says ‘wear with everything’, while the luxurious leather and sturdy fixings will survive the 9-5 better than you do – perfect for when a day of spreadsheets leads to spritzers. Plus, its multiple compartments and zip pockets are guaranteed to keep you organised.

Style Insider: Yatri Pabari’s AW18 Picks

Join us as we catch up with our latest style insider Yatri Pabari (@y.a.t.r.i) on our exclusive shoot, and find out more about the fashion blogger’s wardrobe must-haves for AW18.

How would you describe your usual style?

I’d say chic but minimal with a bold presence. I love neutral tones and classic prints.  Sunglasses are my favourite accessory and it doesn’t have to be sunny for me to wear them. I have them on all year round!

What are your favourite pieces from the shoot and why?

I absolutely LOVE the printed scarves! They’re so versatile – you can use them to jazz up your hair, tie them on your bag to give your look a little more character or wear them as neck scarves. One accessory with multiple uses – you can’t go wrong! The tortoiseshell sunglasses were another one of my favourites as they add that little chic look to any outfit.

Which new trends are you most excited about for AW18?

Alongside animal prints, I’m really excited for all the statement earrings that are cropping up. The whole big resin earring trend is definitely one I’ll be delving into when it comes to accessorising my looks for AW18.

5 Back-to-School Backpacks for New-Term Cool

Going back to school, college or uni, or need a new bag for your daily commute? Backpacks are the wardrobe saviour that you’re looking for. Far removed from the kids-only creations that we remember from our playground days, this season’s new-in styles are making the grade with their preppy checks, floral prints and clean, contemporary shapes. So take note – here are five back-to-school backpacks that you need for new-term cool.

1. Bloom Town

Summer blooms, be gone. As we head into cooler temperatures, florals take on a darker mood that feels somewhat more suited to the sultrier aesthetic of AW18.  Designed with bold blooms set against an inky backdrop, this domed design stays true to the new season’s state of mind without falling short of functionality. We have serious love for its sturdy structure, roomy interior and multitude of pockets for all your weekday essentials.

2. Prep Time

The preppy check is back but not as you know it. Printed with plaid prints in navy, green and mustard, this spacious style is here to give the classic trend a fresh new feel – and it’s all thanks to a few clever twists. While tan side pockets piped edges play up to its old-school styling, small-scale florals and a squared Scandi silhouette keep it more relevant to now.

3. Modern Minimal

Minimalists, listen close – there’s still space for pared-back pieces in next season’s mostly maximalist line-up. Inspired by sports-luxe silhouettes, this leather-look backpack is simple yet effective: it comes with a generous inner compartment and extra pockets, all concealed within a clean, fuss-free design. Wear yours from the campus to catch-ups over coffee.

4. Print Clash

Why wear one print when you could wear two? This stand-out style clashes it up with bold prep-school checks and graphic florals, creating a classroom must-have that won’t fade into the background. Extra marks for its spacious zipped compartment and padded shoulder straps that can be adjusted to find the perfect fit.

5. London Calling

Novelty prints have gone all grown up. Taking you from work to play, this London-themed backpack is patterned with buses, black cabs and other iconic illustrations that have been inspired by the capital – and the result is something that won’t look out of place on Instagram. We love its leather-look texture and multiple pockets

New Ways to Wear the Printed Scarf

3 Ways to Wear Rainbow Brights

From the runways to our Instagram feeds, rainbow brights have taken over – and the colour spectrum is showing no signs of fading away as we move into AW18. But luckily, there are ways to wear the rainbow trend without having to curate a wardrobe that’s full of bold brights – and it’s all down to the accessories. Here, we take a brief look at the roots of fashion’s new obsession and explore the stand-out styles that are vying for a place in your new season wardrobe, as seen on fashion blogger Naomi Ross.

As Seen On

The iconic symbol of LBGTQ+ movement, the rainbow flag found its way onto the runways for SS18 and AW18, championing diversity, hope and, above all, pride. For his final Burberry show (left), Christopher Bailey showcased rainbow stripes on knits, jackets and floor-length capes in faux fur, while the technicolour dreams of Ashish (right), Missoni and Dolce & Gabbana manifested themselves in statement-making styles that were made to be seen.

1. The Tote Bag

Low on effort and big on impact, a bold bag is the easiest route into the rainbow trend. Make it feel all the more relevant with diagonal lines instead of uniform stripes, and go big with a large, structured shapes that won’t fade into the background. Wear it with a pared-back look, or create a clash with polka dot prints for modern maximalism.

2. The Printed Scarf

Neckerchiefs and scarves have made a comeback as move from this season to next, with rainbow stripes making up one of the key prints found on the revamped fashion classic. But as well as lending any look an intense hit of colour, perhaps the best thing about this it-accessory is the multitude of ways that you can wear it – try it in your hair, tied onto the handles of your bag or even as a belt.

3. The Statement Earrings

Rainbow brights were made to stand out – so what better way to wear them than with some statement earrings? From thread-wrapped hoops to sequin drops, these stand-out pieces are here to boost the darker mood of the new season, as well as taking your look from day to night with minimal fuss.

The New-Season Satchel You Need Now

Once synonymous with our school days, satchels are the comeback kids of the new season – and we can’t get enough of their modernized makeover. Oversized, bulky shapes and classic style elements are now a thing of the past, thanks to the latest line-up of down-sized designs with their bold colour palettes and updated details. So make some space in your wardrobe – here’s the new-season satchel you need now, as seen on fashion blogger Naomi Ross.

Crush on Cobalt

Cobalt blue is the colour to watch as we move into AW18.  Born out of the eighties and, more recently, this season’s rainbow trend, this electric hue is transforming the humble satchel into a statement-maker that you’ll be wearing from day to night – and Naomi agrees.

“Satchels are my go-to style of bag,” she says. “During the day, I’d wear this across body in more of a casual way, say with a cute dress or a skirt-and-top combo. Then for the evening, I’d style it off one-shoulder, or even tuck the straps and hold it like a clutch for a more glam look.”

Leave it on Red

Red holds perennial power in every woman’s wardrobe – and satchels are the latest styles to feel the shade’s almighty impact. Elevating its status from schoolgirl essential to fashion favourite, red brings all the boldness to this retro classic, while its neat envelope design makes it feel all the more fresh.

Make a New Statement

Although we champion the modern revival of the satchel, its preppy roots are not to be forgotten. Traditional plaid prints nod to the bag’s old-school past, while the unexpected addition of small-scale florals brings it straight up to date. And for something that holds onto that summer state of mind, a bright burst of yellow is all you need to make a statement from this season to next.

Style Insider: Naomi Ross’ AW18 Picks

Make way for our next style insider: Naomi Ross (@naaomiross). See how the fashion blogger will be wearing the key trends of AW18 from this season to next, and find out more about her style loves in our exclusive Q&A…

How would you describe your usual style?

I’d say my style is quite feminine with a twist. I’m always playing with print and colour clashing, and love to mix things up, whether that’s wearing stripes with polka dots, or red with pink.

What are your favourite pieces from the shoot and why?

My favourite piece would have to be the stripe scarf – it’s so versatile. You can style it in your hair to add some extra detail to a simple look, have it as a handbag accessory and even use it as a wrap… everyone needs one!

Who is your celebrity style muse and why?

To be honest, I don’t have one particular celebrity style muse. Instead, I like to take pieces of fashion inspiration from different people, whether that be a celebrity, a friend, a look I’ve seen on Instagram or even just someone on the tube. Style inspiration is everywhere!

5 New-In Beach Looks We Love

There’s something about late-summer holidays that makes them creep up on you without warning – especially when you’ve been blessed with a heatwave on home ground. Struggling to pull together a holiday wardrobe worth featuring on your Instagram feed? Allow us to present the five new-in beach looks that we love. Whether you’re a sunbather or a sightseer, these fresh outfits have the sartorial edge over your getaway go-tos.

Shop Beach >

1. Pink Lady

This is pink with a punch. When styling out a statement shape like this frilly one-shoulder swimsuit, a block colour is the only way to go. Keep the look bright and bang on trend with a stripy hair scarf to tame those salt-water waves – because it’s all about effortless fixes when you’re at the beach.

2. She’s A Natural

Straw bags speak of endless summers: just switching up this one accessory makes a holiday outfit feel seriously current. We’re taking cues from this natural jute circle bag and keeping the palette oh-so simple. A black maxi dress with shimmery embroidery is the perfect all-rounder with cost-per-wear appeal, moving nicely from souk to sunset cocktails.

3. Bohemian Dream

Channel your inner bohemian dreamer with a handful of craftwork details. This need-now combination of woven straw and a ring handle makes the pom-pom bag a must for beach adventures. Plus, colour-pop embroidery is still soaking up the love of the style set and a shoulder-baring top is just the thing for cooling off in the cabana. Sunglasses essential, of course.

4. Off-Duty Chic

You might be seeing your vacation as a chance to get out of the shirt and trousers but bear with us, this look is an all the more boho iteration. Super-airy cottons and knot ties make the button-up feel cool and casual, and it’s perfect for throwing on over a bikini if you’re in a rush. Trousers need to be wide leg, and split side seams give you that floaty, beach-goddess look. Finish with a sparkling tote to keep the glamour in gear.

5. Flower Girl

We can’t get enough of cut-outs and cute knot ties, so this swimsuit has us completely sold. The paradise-ready print gets all the attention in this trending one-piece, so play down the look with cool-girl accessories. A frayed fedora keeps things relaxed and easy-going (not to mention spares you a peeling forehead), while bamboo hoops are just the right amount of polish.

New Ways to Wear the Printed Scarf

This season we’re getting creative with scarves, because who doesn’t like to switch it up now and then? Yes, your silky number looks great around your neck, but take it to your tresses or trusty tote bag and you’ve got a look that belongs on your Instagram feed. Press play on the new ways to wear your printed scarf and prepare to be inspired.

Shop Lightweight Scarves >

1. Hear Me Roar

If the season’s all-out leopard looks are a bit too Scary Spice for your taste, tame the wildness with a printed scarf. A neutral-toned handbag is the perfect canvas for a dash of animal spots – knot your scarf around the hardware to make it feel brand new. Or to get the look that we’re seeing everywhere right now, sweep your hair into a low ponytail and trade out your scrunchie for a tumbling scarf. Hoops are a must to finish.

2. Flower Power 2.0

There’s not much from ‘70s fashion that we haven’t got our hands on in the past few seasons: it’s having more than just a moment. The skinny scarf is no exception, though what makes it more haute than hippy is how you wear it. Reinvent your staple shorts by threading it through the belt loops, or tie it round your head and secure at the nape of the neck for a pretty hairband effect. The resin jewellery trend is perfect for picking out the scarf’s colours.

3. Rockabilly Baby

Be a retro darling with a polka-dot neckerchief. Black and white is your easiest colourway when it comes to styling – and keeps the look feeling ultra-modern. Tie it around your neck for a flirty fifties feel, or roll it into a narrow strip and tie into a headband. We love this look with a messy bun.

4. Swathes of Silk

Take the look to the next level with a scarf made of pure silk. Something with this much luxe appeal is perfect for showing off on your favourite cross-body, tied in a bow for a bunched effect. Our floral print looks so good with the season’s burgundy bags, for the record. Doubling as the ultimate fix for a bad hair day, this liquid-soft style also ties effortlessly around a high ponytail to achieve the need-now hair scarf trend.

3 Resin Earrings We Can’t Stop Thinking About

Statement earrings of seasons past have looked a little something like this: high-shine jewels, XXL hoops and, of course, the tassels. But now, an unlikely contender has turned our heads: resin earrings. Far removed from the seventies’ styles lurking in your mum’s jewellery box, the latest line-up of acrylic accessories are anything but tacky, thanks to their fluid, sculptural designs and cool colour palettes. Need to know more? As seen on stylist and writer Danielle Ward, here are three resin earrings that we can’t stop thinking about….

1. Statement Speckles

Sparkles aren’t the only way to make a statement. Moving away from classic tortoiseshell textures, speckled acrylics in light-catching colours are here to elevate your look from this season to next – and the proof is in these long-drop designs. Wear them with everything from dressed-down denim to after-dark get-ups.

2. Shape Shifters

Geometric shapes are usually associated with minimal Scandi silhouettes but this season’s iterations have taken on a more maximalist aesthetic. Supersized structures in contrasting resin textures create a fresh, contemporary look for these statement-making earrings, accented further by their super-luxe hues of gold, coral and burgundy. We’re obsessed.

3. New Hoops

Hoop earrings have moved on from the nineties’ numbers that we know and love, with sleek resin styles making up this season’s of-the-moment buys. Chunky proportions and two-tone palettes of cream and coffee make this pair feel effortlessly modern – we’ll be showing ours off with slicked-back hair.
