5 All-New Beach Looks to Pack Now

If the thought of going on holiday is the only thing getting you through that sticky commute (heatwave + public transport = not a good look) then here’s one more thing to lift your mid-summer spirits: our all-new arrivals for the beach. Ready, jet-set, go!

1. Ruffles All Round

Ruffles have been doing the style rounds for a few seasons now so it only feels right to bring them to the beach. Printed with hothouse florals, this babein’ bikini has been made all the more Insta-worthy with flirty frills and a high-cut waist. Add to the pin-up girl vibes with high-rise shorts and cat-eye sunglasses, finishing the look with a pair of simple sandals.

2. Floral Clash

If you want to take your obsession with floral prints to the next level then this cool combo is definitely the way to do it. Make waves in a beach-ready bikini with mix-and-match florals, slipping into its co-ordinating kaftan when it’s time to head to the bar. A printed tote bag brings a little extra boldness to the look, while plain tan sandals tone it down to a tee.

3. Poolside Siren

A red swimsuit = the easiest way to do poolside glamour. Opt for a plunging style with lace-up details and a low scooped back – we like it best worn with a breezy white shirt. Want to make the whole thing feel more now? An embroidered straw bag and chunky silver sliders are here to bring the look straight into SS18.

4. Blue Lagoon

Want to match your surroundings? Blue is the hue you need. Choose a bloom-covered swimsuit in classic navy, and team it with a swishy sun dress in a cobalt colour palette. Statement hoops in hot pink will make the whole look pop, while gold sandals will rack up the glam points.

5. Reverse It

Only taking hand luggage with you? No biggie – pack a reversible bikini to save space *and* serve all the looks at that pool party you’ve been invited to. Throw on a bold sun dress (so much love for those embroideries) and luxe it up with gold hoops and matching sandals.

Tar Mar: My Summer of Love

Head over to The Hamptons with blogger and photographer Tara, and find out what she wore on her Insta-worthy beach escape. Summer style inspiration, right this way…

Tell us about your holiday destination

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I headed to The Hamptons on Long Island, New York. The city lifestyle doesn’t leave much room for lengthy time off so weekend trips are a must! This part of New York is known for is beautiful pristine beaches, great seafood, vineyards and picturesque towns.

What do you love most about summer?

My favourite thing about summer is how much time you get to spend outside when the weather is beautiful while wearing super-light clothing that’s so easy to style. Plus the summer nights here in New York have the most incredible sunsets, best enjoyed from a good rooftop. I love that excitement for life that summer brings about.

Give us the low-down of your top 5 summer suitcase must-packs

A well thought-out beach bag is a must – something that looks good casually and is practical for all your holiday bits and bobs! That’s why I love my round raffia bag. I also love simple gold accessories – a statement gold bracelet and a pair hoop earrings will go with everything. My other essentials include versatile sunnies, a good hair protection spray for the sun, and sunscreen of course!

What’s your ultimate summer anthem for 2018?

I absolutely love Nevermind (Alright) by Dennis Lloyd – it’s perfect for a summer-hyped drive!

If you could vacay with any celeb, who would you pick and why?

Probably Jennifer Lawrence – she seems like the type of girl you’d make memorable holiday moments with!

How to Choose the Perfect Sunglasses

Summer’s in – and it’s time to throw some shade. From tiny lenses to mega frames, sunglasses are the ultimate accessory for warm-weather days, whether you’re hanging out at home or jetting off abroad. Want to know how to choose the perfect sunglasses to suit your face shape? We’ve got you covered with our super-easy guide – you’ll be serving those summer looks in no time.

Suss out your face shape

Knowing your face shape is a shortcut to picking out the most fire frames for you. The five main ones are sqaure, oval, oblong, round and heart

No idea what your face shape is? No worries, there are loads of ways to work it out. If you want to get super-technical, you can measure the key, defining areas of your face and scribble down the measurements as you go along: cheekbone to cheekbone, the width of your jawline, the length of your face and the width of your forehead.

Need a quicker way to figure it out? Grab an eyeliner pencil, head over to the mirror and draw the outline of your face onto it – simple!

Square

Square-shaped faces are usually characterised by a wide brow and jawline that are a similar width in appearance, plus a square or flat chin.

Your perfect sunglasses: Square-shaped faces look amazing in round sunnies. Opt for cat-eye pairs with that’ll soften your features while adding a touch of old-school glamour.

Oval

Oval faces are longer than they are wide, and your brow, cheekbones and jawline are pretty much equal in width.

Your perfect sunglasses: When it comes to oval faces, the choice is all yours because almost anything goes. This season, we’re loving flat-top sunglasses that are classic, cool and won’t swamp those babein’ features.

Oblong

Oblong faces are generally longer than they are wide with a narrow width. Cheeklines and sides are usually straight, and chins can be pointed.

Your perfect sunglasses: Oblong faces work especially well with rounded frames. Choose a vintage-inspired pair that will flatter your bone structure while nodding to one of this season’s key trends.

Round

If you’ve got a round face, the height and width of your face will be around the same. Features are soft and cheekbones are usually the widest point.

Your perfect sunglasses: Angular lines look amazing on round faces, adding definition and accentuating those cheekbones. Think oversized square frames that’ll give you some extra structure as well as serious glam points.

Heart

Heart-shaped faces are usually narrower at the chin and wider at the temples. Chins are noticeably pointed, and cheekbones taper into the jawline.

Your perfect sunglasses: Heart shapes should go for frames that mirror their face shape; narrower on the bottom and wider at the top – just like these too-cool aviators.

6 Resin Earrings to Covet Now

Resin, tortoiseshell, acrylic: no matter what you wanna call it, this season’s statement earrings are everywhere right now. Mixing direction designs with a hint of retro, these fashion-forward jewels have made their mark on the runways and on our Instagram feeds, and it looks like the trend is here to stick around for a few seasons yet. From hoops to long-drop pairs, here are six resin earrings to covet now.

1. Jump Through Hoops

Hoop earrings have upped the ante. With its tortoiseshell texture and gold-tone metal inlays, this classic-yet-cool pair are an upgrade on the 90s designs we’ve been loving since forever – and something tells us they might be our new wardrobe favourites.

2. Drop the Act

Statement earrings aren’t all about the jewels. Made from rose gold-tone metal, and detailed with clear resin drops, these long-line designs make themselves heard without having to shout. We’ll be wearing ours from AM to PM.

3. A New Geometry

Usually associated with minimal shapes and clean lines, geometric earrings have taken a turn for the XXL with these retro resin designs. Styled with soft-touch velvet discs and curved acrylic cut-outs, this made-you-stare pair was made for the girl who wants to be noticed.

4. That 70s Show

Go big or go home – these 70s-style resin hoops aren’t for the faint-hearted. Boasting an oversized shape that still feels sleek, this statement-making pair has a tortoiseshell texture for a timeless look. Show yours off with slicked-back hair.

5. Sugar Frosted

Far removed from the candy-coloured shades of spring, this season’s pastels get all grown-up with lighter palettes that feel cool and contemporary. Case in point? This swish pair of hoops. Designed in a frosted lilac hue with silver-tone metal accents, these Scandi-inspired styles are here to prove that pastels can be pared-back. We’re in.

6. Make it Marble

The best-looking backdrop on our Instagram feeds, marble has now made its way over to this season’s jewels – and these too-cool creations are the first to catch on. Serving all the chic, these textured resin styles offer a modern take on the hoops that we know and love, making them major players for SS18 and way beyond.

5 Instagrammable Staycation Destinations

Apparently, when we’re choosing where to go on our holidays, most of us consider how Instagrammable a place is. Firstly, obviously! Pics or it didn’t happen, right? Secondly, that sounds great if you can splash out for a super-glam Grecian hotel with an infinity pool outside your door but what if your bank account is less Beyoncé more budget?  We’ve got you. Hit up one of these totally Insta-worthy staycation destinations and thank us later.

1. Tenby, Wales

A golden sandy beach, quaint streets, palm trees and pastel houses galore. Must be some coastal Mediterranean town. Nope! It’s Tenby in Wales. So far the Tenby hashtag has racked up over 160,000 posts and it’s not hard to see why. The cute stairs nestled between the pastel-coloured buildings are just calling out for those candid-but-not-really-candid shots, the palm tree lined beaches will make you feel like you’re in Spain and the old school seaside vibes are fuelling our nostalgia rn.

What to Wear

2. Isle of Skye, Scotland

The Isle of Skye just off the coast of Scotland has you 100% covered when it comes to Insta-ready beauty spots. Hike up to The Storr for an epic landscape pic (you looking triumphant at the top of a hill 100% necessary, ofc), next head to Dunvegan Castle then don’t even think about leaving until you’ve been to the Fairy Pools. The water is crystal clear blue and you can swim in it too, if you fancy perfecting your wet hair flick.

What to Wear

3. London

We’re not talking snapping Big Ben or getting the usual shot outside Buckingham Palace. Ditch the tourist spots and head straight for Sky Garden for ultra chic interiors and killer views. Next, up take a trip to God’s Own Junkyard which is basically neon heaven on earth, get a hit of colour at Neal’s Yard, then make tracks for Bourne and Hollingsworth – a plant lover’s paradise. And last but definitely not least, Sketch London is the holy grail of Insta-locations. The millennial pink walls and matching velvet chairs never fail to rack up the likes and the multi-coloured space age-y toilets are serious Instagram fodder too.

What to Wear

4. Rye, Sussex

Rye has it all – cobbled streets, black and white Georgian houses, and gorgeous doorways that are calling out for an #OOTD post. Sunset over the harbour will get you at least five heart eye emojis and if that’s not enough, Camber Sands is right on your doorstep too. The amazing sand dunes and golden beach which stretches on forever need no filter.

What to Wear

5. Leeds

If city trips are your thing but you’ve already done London, head north to Leeds. We guarantee your camera roll will be full by the time you leave. Head to the Corn Exchange for interiors inspo (plus perfect selfie light underneath the huge ceiling window) then visit Colours May Vary and Village; two super cool indie magazine shops. Issho provides rooftop goals with its amazing view, and Tattu might just take the crown for prettiest restaurant ever with its cute pendant lights and cherry blossom trees.

5 Bright Beach Looks We Love

Now don’t get us wrong. While we’re still major fans of the little black dresses/jumpsuit/sliders serving all the looks in our summer wardrobes, there’s something about jetting off on holiday that makes us want to wear all the colour. Ready to get on board? From citrus shades and cool corals to dreamy sea blues, here are the five bright beach looks we’re loving right now.

1. Watermelon Wonder

Carrying a watermelon is *so* 1987. Turn your fave Dirty Dancing quote into an Insta-ready reality with so-fresh shades of green and pink – like this sun dress and bikini combo. Add an extra squeeze of SS18 with a woven bag and silver sandals.

2. Mellow Yellow

Gen Z yellow has been on our radar since the start of SS18 and we’re very much here for it finding its place in our getaway wardrobes. Get hyped over the hottest hue of the season with a babein’ bikini that’s guaranteed to set your Insta feed on fire, ticking off another two trends with ruffles and a one-shoulder neckline. So fresh.

3. Blue Wave

Dreamy destinations = the only reason we’d ever want to blend into the background. Copy the cloudless skies in a cool blue maxi dress, topped with tile prints and tassels for that stand-out touch. Make the palette pop with a coral bikini (as seen on Laura from Love Island, fyi), complementing its blush-toned hues with rose gold accessories.

4. Rainbow Mood

If you’re not one to do things by halves then all-out rainbow stripes is the certified trend of your summer vacay. Go for so-extra sun dresses with bold blocks of colour (bonus if they come with a bit of sparkle) that are perfect for throwing on over your bikini or styling up for the bar with a pair of tassel earrings. Hashtag no filter needed.

5. Life Aquatic

How to wear colour without going OTT? Stand out without shouting with a swish swimsuit in crush-worthy colours of aquamarine and coral (those embroideries though), paring it back with a crisp white shirt for relaxed beach vibes. Finish with acrylic sunglasses and metallic sliders for ultimate poolside cool.

3 Hot Festival Season Trends

Off to a festival and literally have nothing to wear? Hold it right there. Before you start panic-buying all the sequin capes (seriously though, how many is too many?), we’re here to give you the low-down on the three hottest festival season trends for 2018, ready to take your field-day ‘fits from basic to Boomerang-ready. So whether you’re camping out for the weekend, hitting up a one-day fest or jetting off to party under the sun and starry skies, here are the looks you need to know about.

1. Bohemian Girl

Going all-out boho for festival season is nothing new but let it be known that SS18’s style selection is cooler and crisper than ever before.  Prints are out and embellishments are in, with neon embroideries, swishy tassels and mirrored adornments adding all the wows to sun-bleached whites. Accessories come a little cleaner, with glam gold jewels and classic sunglasses making up the must-have extras.

2. Insta Glam

Want a festival ‘fit that is as fierce as you are? Stick to the statement-making styles that you know and love (a fringed jacket is totes an investment) and bring extra glam to your get-up with the accessories that were made to stand out in the main-stage crowd. Think high-gloss metals, sequins, tassels and bursts of bold colour, guaranteed to deliver all the Instagram likes.

3. Pretty Pastels

If you thought pastels were just for spring then think again. From lust-worthy lilacs and pinks to sugary shades of bubblegum blue, festivals are the perfect place for a sorbet supernova – and the best way to start is with a sweet-as sun dress. When it comes to the accessories, keep to the same palette or pick ‘n’ mix with clashing colours or, if you’re feeling extra, rainbow stripes – with this look, anything goes.

5 Catwalk-Approved Sunglasses for SS18

Ah, sunglasses. Useful at a) shielding us from the sun’s rays, b) concealing post-weekend eyes and c) making us feel like actual VIPs even when we’re just at the supermarket, these warm-weather essentials have stepped up their style game for the new season, with our fave designers focusing in on high-fashion frames and stand-out shapes. Ready to cop an eyeful? Here are five catwalk-approved sunglasses for SS18.

1. Cat Lady

The all-time favourite accessory of old-school Hollywood starlets, cat-eye sunglasses have made a red carpet-worthy comeback for SS18. At London Fashion Week, Erdem showed us that vintage styling ruled supreme with exaggerated acetate frames, giving every ‘fit that straight-outta-the-50s feels. Team yours with tea dresses for pin-up vibes.

2. Sweet Heart

Heart-shaped sunglasses = fashion’s favourite new way to do novelty. Case in point? The Gucci runway at Milan Fashion Week. Proving that bigger is definitely better, these anything-but-subtle styles are making their mark on SS18 with oversized lenses and chunky frames. Pick a pair with asymmetrical styling for a high-fashion edge.

3. Retro Reborn

From bumbags to scrunchies, there’s no denying that SS18 has a thing for throwback fashion. And its latest obsession? Retro sunglasses. Soft oval shapes and thick white frames have the go-ahead from Marni, meaning we’ll be wearing ours with everything from cami dresses and sneaks to so-vintage swimsuits.

4. To the Extreme

Wanna take your sunnies whole new levels of extra? Enter the extreme cat-eye. Spotted on the Louis Vuitton runway at Paris Fashion Week, these wide-eyed wonders come with narrow-set lenses and amplified angles, delivering a fresh new take on the teeny-tiny pairs that have not long started the style rounds.  Opt for an all-black pair that’ll go with all your wardrobe faves.

5. The Aviator

Most commonly associated with 80s cop shows and, more recently, the off-duty looks of the Insta style set, aviator frames have returned with a few subtle tweaks to their classic shape. Take tips from Gucci and go for metal-rimmed designs with double nose bridges (so retro) and tinted lenses in supersized proportions.

5 Essential Summer Bags

Sorted your summer ‘fits and now need those all-important extras? Start with the bags. Whether you need something for that festival, beach break or just wanna go from work to wherever with minimum accessory-based fuss, here are five essential summer bags that you need to add to your wishlist asap.

1. Cross the Line

First up, the cross-body bag. The cornerstone of our all-season wardrobes, these down-sized designs are here with an almighty punch for our summer style needs – we’re talking woven wins, cool metallics, pastel palettes, graphic prints and babein’ boho embroideries that are all about that vacay life.

2. Tote It Up

If you’re an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink kinda gal, then the humble tote bag is all you need for your summer stash. Lose the canvas freebies that you’ve somehow accumulated over the years (seriously, where do they all come from?) and look to oversized shapes with extravagant embroideries, so-extra sequins and ombre palettes to up the style status of your arm candy.

3. In Your Clutches

Weddings, race days, grad balls – when it comes to summer, there’s always something that you need to look extra for. From serious sparkles and flapper-girl fringing to the fanciest 3D blooms, a statement-making clutch makes the perfect plus-one for all your big-deal invites – Insta likes, guaranteed.

4. Backpack Flashback

Backpacks = the only way to go hands-free for festivals/days out/the daily grind without seriously restricting what you leave the house with. For SS18 and far beyond, we’re crushing on sports-luxe styles with domed designs in matte black and high-shine metallics, with pastel pieces in clean Scandi silhouettes also making the new season cut.

5. Bumbag Revival

Far removed from the neon numbers that we’ve come to associate with the 90s, bumbags have become one of the unexpected highlights of SS18 – and we’d be lying if we said weren’t totally into it. Make ‘em feel fresh and less Fresh Prince with cool quilted designs, out-there embellishments and pared-back pieces in sweet sorbet shades.
