National Sisters Day Q&A with Sinead & Lauren Crowe

To celebrate National Sisters Day (5th August 2019), we’ve caught up with bloggers and biological BFFs Sinead and Lauren Crowe to talk all things siblings, style and Spice Girl dance routines…

Sum up your relationship in three words…

Sinead: She’s my bestie.

Lauren: True soul mates!

What’s the best thing about having a sister?

Lauren: Nothing compares to the bond you have with a sister; you can trust and rely on best friends or partners but until you have a sister you never know the next level of having somebody who’s totally there for you! Having a sister so close in age makes us best friends too.

Sinead: Always having someone on your side and someone you can bounce ideas off or talk to when you’re down or if someone upsets you. Someone you know that will always be there for you through the highs and lows. And stealing her amazing clothes!

What’s your favourite memory together?

Sinead: We used to make full-on, hour-long plays with Spice Girl dances and make our whole family sit down whilst we performed for them. I feel so sorry for my older sisters as they were teenagers at the time and must have hated it!

Lauren: As children we were partners in crime so it would be too hard to choose! As an adult it’s amazing that we do the same and get to experience so many incredible things together.

You both have a day off – how would you spend it together?

Sinead: Definitely lunch in my favourite place in Stamford, the Orangery Restaurant in Burghley House – it’s beautiful!

Lauren: A day off doesn’t really exist with us! When we are together, we always get more inspired by each other and can’t help but want to take pictures. My ideal day off is a day by the pool or beach but Sinead’s is probably a day at home with a puzzle!

How would you describe each other’s style?

Lauren: Sinead is a pro at making the high street look luxury! She’s the queen of effortlessly cool and simple style. She always manages to pull off super-casual looks and somehow look smart whereas I always think, “if I wore that I’d look like I’m off to decorate a house!”. But she pulls it off so well.

Sinead: Lauren’s a style chameleon. I love the silky fabrics she wears, and she has the most amazing range of Realisation Par dresses! But then she’ll also rock wide-leg jeans and a boyfriend t shirt; if she sees something and wants to wear it she will, she reminds me a bit of Carrie Bradshaw in that way.

If you could steal one piece from each other’s wardrobe what would you take?

Lauren: Sinead’s wardrobe is about eight times the size of mine so it’s really hard to choose, but how could I not grab all the Chanel and run?

Sinead: That’s a tough one. Probably her Louis Vuitton backpack or her daisy-print dress from Realisation Par. If I couldn’t choose, I’d just put the dress in the bag and make a run for it!

Sustainable Swim: Meet our Recycled Swimwear Collection

It’s cool to be conscious. From swimsuits to bikinis, our sustainable swimwear collection is made from recycled plastic bottles, meaning it’s much kinder to the planet. Ready to take a dip? Jump on in…

1. Paisley Print

Our brand was born out of bohemia, so it’s only natural that our heritage prints were a key part of our eco-friendly swimwear range. Fashioned with a free-spirited feel, our lace-up swimsuit and bow bikini are both patterned with paisley motifs in light, refreshing shades of aqua blue, yellow and pink – perfect sun-drenched destinations.

2. Hawaiian Florals

Take a trip to the tropics – our recycled bikini is covered in Hawaiian flowers for a print that’s worthy of paradise. Featuring a triangle top with removable padding and low-rise briefs, this trending two-piece is also styled with striped trims in navy-blue and white to bring the blooms further into focus.

3. Luxe Leopard

Leopard print, but make it eco. Made from recycled polyester, our animal-print swimsuits and bikinis are coloured in a warm rust hue that flatters every skin tone, while its black spots make the motif feel new and considered.

How to Style the Curated Ear Trend

Multiple piercings – otherwise known as the curated ear – are continuing to make their style impact in SS19. Delicate and decorative, artful adornments come in the shape of hoops, studs and dangly designs, carefully selected to match your fashion persona. Here’s how to style the trend…

1. Starry Skies

  • *Earrings (left) coming soon

Cosmic constellations are still shining bright as move between the seasons, with tiny, twinkling stars and flashes of lightning lending an ethereal feel to your finished look. Mix studs and hoops for a carefully curated aesthetic or make a move into minimalism with a single starburst that’ll catch the light from every angle.

2. Crystals from SWAROVSKI®

It’s time for a little luxe. Wear them all at once for pure glamour.

3. Bohemian Girl

Bohemian styling has resurfaced in the curated ear trend. Eastern-inspired pieces are delicate and dainty, combining gold-tone metals with eclectic embellishments for a free-spirited fashion mood. Design Stories: The Jacqueline Bag

Bags – it’s what we know and what we love. In our latest edition of Design Stories, we talk to our designer Hannah about what inspired her to create one of next season’s key bags, as well getting a closer look at some of our new arrivals.

The Inspiration

“I wanted to capture the patchwork trend in a contemporary way, highlighting the key colours of the season and mixing surface textures for interest. Inspired by Chloe, Coach and Tory Burch, the chain shoulder bag continues to be a trend must-have, taking you from day to night.” – Hannah Callaghan, Designer.

More New Arrivals

1, The Quilted Bags

Quilted bags are back with a whole new guise. Usually associated with classic cross-body designs, uniform patterns have been taken over with asymmetric textures, with soft lines and even softer shades lending them a definitively modern look.

2. The Tan Bags

Emulating the look and feel of classic brown leather, PU bags are going the extra mile as we move from this season to next. Be it a backpack or a hobo bag, tan-hued designs are mixing vintage influences with modern touches, making them the new wardrobe heroes that we’ll be wearing with everything.

3. The Cross-Body Bags

Cross-body bags have been overhauled. Elongated silhouettes with softer structures are dominating our new-in arrivals, with everything from bold primary tones to mock-croc textures in powdery palettes making up our most note-worthy styles. Function is key with these fashion-forward finds – think double compartments and adjustable shoulder straps.

Z for Accessorize: The Precious Metals Jewellery Guide

By now, you’ll know that our Z for Accessorize jewellery collection is packed with precious pieces – but what exactly is it that makes them so special? It’s all in the plating. Lending a high-gloss shine while adding durability, plating is the process of bonding a very thin layer of gold, rose gold or platinum over another metal. This gives it the look of solid gold or silver while eliminating the metal’s natural softness and weakness, resulting in jewellery box treasures that were made to be worn for years to come. Ready to find your new fashion favourites? Here are the precious metals to love now and always.

Gold

Here come the modern classics. Dreamt up in our London studio, these keepsake creations are plated in gold for understated glamour and set with semi-precious stones that’ll glisten under the sun and starlit skies. Expect to find delicate chain necklaces and hooped earrings with embellished geometric charms and, for a less structured look, stacking rings in varying designs provide an eclectic touch.

Platinum

Emulating the look and feel of real silver, these platinum-plated pieces are the ones we’ll be wearing from now till forever. Nodding to the nineties whilst still retaining that sense of contemporary cool, stand-out styles include chain drop earrings and pendants with small-cut cubic zirconia stones for that extra glamour and glow. After something a little more classic? Necklaces with cushion-cut pendants and sparkling rings make up the timeless treasures to add onto your outfit for every unforgettable

Rose Gold

Rose gold is going nowhere – and these delicate designs prove it. From star-strewn rings and bracelets to necklaces with opulent sparkles, each piece from our Z for Accessorize collection is plated in beautiful blush-toned gold for a luxe feel. For curated maximalism, layer on your favourite finds all at once, creating a look that feels wholly unique to your personal sense of style.

Crystals from SWAROVSKI®

Plated in gold or made from sterling silver (this refers to metals made from 92.5% pure silver and copper alloys), our Z for Accessorize collection also features precious pieces adorned with light-catching crystals from SWAROVSKI®. Crafted from quartz, sand and minerals (the exact proportions remain a closely-guarded secret) and precision-cut for a multi-faceted finish, these stones come in a variety of colours, from barely-there hues to dark, inky tones.

Best Friends Q&A with Amy Bell and Megan Ellaby

To celebrate strong female friendships, we asked fashion bloggers and real-life BFFs Amy Bell and Megan Ellaby to talk all things sisterhood and style in our exclusive Q&A. Here’s what they had to say…

Sum up your friendship in three words!

Amy: Lots of larrrfs!

Megan: Fun, colourful and adventurous.

What is your favourite memory together?

Amy: Oh my goodness, so many! We were in San Francisco last year and were in a taxi on our way to dinner when we drove past a venue that had a sign up to say the The Kooks were playing that evening – we had a manic ‘oh my God, shall we?’ chat, hopped out the taxi, ran over to the venue to buy some last-minute tickets and had one of the best, best nights together. Also going over the Golden Gate Bridge on an open top bus – I think I developed new abs because I was laughing so hard and have a fantastic photo of Megan looking like Jimmy Neutron that makes me chuckle every time I see it.

Megan: Exploring San Francisco together, we had the best time discovering a new city filled with tonnes of laughs, music and tired feet!

You both have a day off – how would you spend it together?

Amy: Ooh I reckon we’d start off with delicious brunch as we both love a good cafe, a wee photobooth (it’d be rude not to) and then meet the boys – they’ve also become good friends which is very romantic – for some drinks and food (my choice, I have so many allergies that nothing terrifies Meggy more than having to pick a restaurant!).

How would you describe each other’s style?

Amy: What I love about Megan’s style is that there’s not one other person out there you can compare it to. There are so many influences in there that mix together to make that definitive ‘Megan’ look. I’d say bold, colourful, playful and badass.

Megan: Amy has one of the best wardrobes I’ve ever seen. Her style is always a little bit different every day. I would say she’s a little more girlie than I am with her love for crop tops and floaty, longer-length skirts but we both have that sixties touch from time to time. I also don’t know anyone who can accesorise the way she does – she’s the queen of accessories!

If you could steal one piece from each other’s wardrobe what would you take?

Amy: Oh, one of those wonderful Chloe bags fo’ sho’!

Megan: Amy has the most amazing burgundy faux shearling coat that I am OBSESSED with. I’d deffo like to nab that this winter.

Tell us about the Accessorize pieces you’ve chosen and why…

Megan: Hair accessories and gold jewellery aplenty, both of which I can’t get enough of this season. Beaded bags are also huge so I had to select one or two of those pieces from the new Accessorize collection. I’ve also been lusting over knot bags so it’s awesome to see one on the high street and it’s so damn cute and tiny.

4 Beach Cover-Ups to Take You from Day to Night

It’s summer somewhere – and we’re more than ready to feel the sand on our toes and the sun on our skin. Whether you’re flying off somewhere far-flung, or looking forward to a staycation closer to home, we’ve got the best beach cover-ups to take you from day to night. Here are our top picks.

1. The Embroidered Playsuit

When it comes to finding that perfect beach cover-up, nothing beats a playsuit. Our long-sleeved embroidered playsuit is designed with playful pom-pom trims and boho tassels which tie up at the front. Vibrant pinks and cool greens make the pretty floral embroidery pop, while the lightweight material adds to its breezy finish. For warm summer days that turn into starlit nights, team yours with the Jenna macramé circle bag, the Moscow suede asymmetric sliders and the slinky shell earrings.

2. The Chambray Dress

Made for the beach, bar and everything in between, our chambray embroidered trapeze dress has a cool blue hue that’s perfect for summer. Throw it on over your bikini and a pair of flip-flops for a go-to beach ensemble, whether you’re dancing till dawn at a full moon party or just kicking back by the water. When it comes to the accessories, add a splash of coral with our Brooke pleated clutch bag, beaded wrap hoop earrings and the Ellen espadrille sliders.

3. The Maxi Dress

Made for breezy beach days and dreamy holiday nights, our white maxi dress is the latest holiday must-have. Crafted from the finest cotton, this sand-grazing has delicate lace details and a lightweight design that will keep you cool when the weather heats up. Accessorise with the skinny leopard-print scarf (perfect for keeping your hair up on sticky summer days), bringing a burst of brightness with the satin knot bag and the Lisbon suede sliders, both in coral.

4. The Kaftan

For a versatile addition to your suitcase selection, layer the Lottie lace-back kaftan over all your bikinis and swimsuits this summer.  Made from soft, breathable cotton, this piece is lightweight enough to throw on somewhere tropical but will help keep the sun off your skin if you need a break from soaking up those rays. As the sun goes down, style with a layered necklace in luxe gold, before keeping it natural with the leopard-print sandals and the Naomi wooden handheld bag for a laidback holiday feel.

3 Bag Trends for Festival Season

As we gear up for festival season, we’re planning our main stage-ready outfits in meticulous detail – and bags are next on our list. Be it a belted style or a cross-body classic, hands-free is the only way to go as we soak up the sounds of summer – here are three of the biggest bag trends to watch.

1. Bum Bags

Bum bags = the accessory that was made for festival season. From luxe leather styles to neon numbers that are straight out of the nineties, these belted designs are fashion’s favourite way to keep field-day essentials to hand. Wear them high on your waist or across the shoulder for carefree cool.

2. Cross-Body

*Bag (left) coming soon

Want something you know you’ll wear all season? Make it a cross-body bag. Perfect for your next festival as well as your everyday wardrobe, our hands-free favourites of SS19 come in every iteration that you can imagine, with pale pastels and bold brights thrown into the mix.

3. Neon

Blending into the background? Not an option for neon. Highlighter orange is one of the headlining hues of festival season, seen across retro bum bags and cool cross-body designs alike. Style yours against a blank canvas or go all-out with clashing colours, sequins and prints.
